2. Check the best months for “Excellent / Very Good” encounter likelihood.
3. Plan exposure protection using typical water temperatures shown.

How to Maximise Your Shark Diving Experience

Book 3–4 Dive Days (minimum)

Protea Banks is an offshore site and conditions can change. Multiple days dramatically increase your chance of excellent visibility and peak shark activity.

Pick the Season That Matches Your Goal

• Summer (Nov–Mar): tiger sharks, bull sharks, hammerheads (high diversity)
• Winter (Jun–Sep): ragged-tooth aggregations (photographer’s dream)
• Year-round: blacktip sharks (Carcharhinus limbatus) plus mixed species

Diver Readiness

• Maintain neutral buoyancy and stay calm
• Move slowly — let sharks approach you
• Follow the briefing (depth, current, positioning)
• Look up often — many approaches come from mid-water
