Protea Banks Is More Than a Shark Dive
Protea Banks is best known for its shark encounters, but it sits inside a much wider blue-water ecosystem. Whales, dolphins, rays, turtles and other large animals move through the same offshore environment, shaped by current, season, depth and food movement.

The reef lies offshore from Shelly Beach on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. Its deeper reef structures, drift diving conditions and exposure to ocean movement help create encounters with large marine life.
