Dive Training – Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know how to swim to start scuba diving?

Yes. Basic swimming ability is required for all beginner scuba courses. You don’t need to be fast, but you must be comfortable in the water and able to swim at least 200 metres unassisted.

How long does an Open Water course take?

Most Open Water Diver courses take 3–4 days to complete depending on conditions, the number of students and your comfort level. Online theory can be completed before arrival to save time.

Do I need my own equipment?

No. We provide all essential gear for training, including cylinders, weights and basic scuba kit. Many divers eventually prefer to purchase personal items like masks, fins and wetsuits for comfort and fit.

What agency should I choose — PADI, SSI, RAID or BSAC?

All agencies we work with follow international safety standards. The best choice depends on your learning style and future training goals. We help you pick the right pathway based on your needs.

Is scuba diving safe for beginners?

Yes — when trained correctly. Our instructors teach skills gradually and ensure you are comfortable before progressing to deeper water. Safety is always the priority.

How many people are in a training group?

We keep groups small to ensure personalised instruction. Private one-to-one training is also available on request.

What medical conditions prevent diving?

Some conditions such as asthma, epilepsy or certain heart issues may require medical clearance. If unsure, we can provide the standard dive medical form for your doctor.

Can I continue to advanced and specialty courses later?

Absolutely. Once certified, you can progress through Advanced, Nitrox, Deep, Wreck, Buoyancy and even Divemaster training. Many divers train with us all the way through.
